The Crane Mat Company

The Crane Mat Company offers its clients various types of crane mats. What’s a crane mat? It’s a wooden ramp or platform that help disperse the massive weight of a crane or large machinery or to help a crane or large piece of machinery move around in less than optimal conditions.

For the Crane Mat Company I designed their web site. I focused on industry solutions as opposed to simple product lists. Their users don’t have a lot of time to surf around products; instead they need to locate the right product for their need.

The Crane Mat Company went from a non–intuitive blog style website for a full fledge professional website. Their customers and visitors are loving the new experience.

Development services were performed by N2Onenetworks.

Nike

Nike is the international leader in sports and sports apparel and could be considered a household name across the globe.

I worked exclusively with the North America Retail Operations team at Nike updating their dated intranet site. A large part of my role was to consult the Operations team on optimizing their navigations and various other page elements for their end-users. The targeted end-user were Nike store managers across the North America region and the goal was to provide them easy and quick access to pertinent materials for running their stores.

Another key objective was to optimize page layouts for faster load times and easier data access while working within the preset style and layout set forth by their global web development team. Taking into at account that Nike IT teams were actively deploying modern web browsers on Nike retail store computers, CSS 2 and 3 were mingled together to create a modern UI experience while maintaining legacy styling for stores who were still in the update queue.

I was also tasked with taking multiple out dated JSP-based forms and updating them to work within Nike’s updated content management system. Most forms were recreated using PHP and MooTools form validation techniques.

Nike store managers across the North America region are now receiving a proper and cohesive online experience while reviewing materials to help them better run their stores and represent the heritage and brand experience that Nike promises to the world.

Solved Magazine

Solved Magazine is an online magazine published by RadiSys Corporation to promote their LTE and LTE Security Gateway products.

RadiSys had delivered clear creative direction instructing the site must maintain a print feeling. To that affect I designed the pages of the magazine to appear dual paged and employ traditional print design characteristics. I worked closely with RadiSys marketing and product line management to design each page to exacting specifications.

Traditionally, online magazines are developed in Flash, which allows for sophisticated page turn animations. However RadiSys had a different requirement, this magazine needed to perform on iDevices like iPad, iPod and iPhone. This meant that Flash was not a suitable option.

I opted for a XHTML and JavaScript based platform. With a clever combination of CSS 2 and 3, XHTML 1.0 and jQuery I was able to craft a sophisticated online magazine that maintained a print like feeling and worked on iDevices as well.

As RadiSys puts it, problem solved.

RadiSys Corporation

RadiSys is a leading provider of innovative hardware and software platforms for next generation IP-based wireless, wireline and video networks.

RadiSys wanted to take a more solution based approach to their homepage. Instead of showcasing their award winning products it was decided to display the solutions in which their products interfaced into. I designed the home page to be more graphics driven showing users real-world activities and markets that RadiSys products fit into.

The first step was to reduce the amount of text on the page. To do this I put press releases and upcoming events into a modern ticker. Next I used large hero images in a jQuery powered slide show that show RadiSys solutions. Finally I incorporated graphical buttons to key marketing initiatives.

The combination of graphics and light yet bold text yields a high comprehension of the breadth of solutions that RadiSys products accompany.

Christmas For Kids

Chris took our ideas and created exactly what we wanted. He provided excellent service and assistance throughout the design, implementation and execution of the project and continues to do so to this day.
— Christmas For Kids

For the past 22 years the Oregon based Christmas for Kids Foundation has sponsored Christmas for Kids, a non-religious charity outreach program.

Christmas For Kids is a wonderful organization of great people providing Christmas gifts for under privileged children of the greater Portland-Metro area. For the organization I designed a web site to inspire people to volunteer for shopping events or donate to help make Christmas a little brighter for kids.

I designed the site to carry over a winter feeling and used photos taken by actual volunteers to create a personal experience. I developed the site using WordPress as a content management system allowing organizers to publish events, receive sign ups online and publish blogs about the events and the organization.

If you’re from the greater Portland-Metro area I urge you to volunteer!
